From 1969 to 2026, Abbey Walk Car Park was a prominent feature of Grimsby town centre’s, and like many people in the town, we’ve been genuinely upset to see the demolition of Abbey Walk car park commence without a firm commitment in place to save examples of Harold Gosney’s relief sculptures.
To highlight the importance of the architecture and artwork to Grimsby’s cultural heritage, we added our support to Grimsby, Cleethorpes & District Civic Society call to North East Lincolnshire Council, to preserve the sculptures, in real life and not just 3D scans.
Lucy teamed up with local artist and supporter of What If We Create CIC Chris Gilleard to produce a limited edition of risograph print. Featuring the photography of Seagull Swamp and archive images. A celebration of our town’s Modernist landmark.
