The Exhibition:
In January 2026, we hosted the Memory in a Bottle exhibition at People Make Grimsby in Freshney Place.
The exhibition included banners, portraits and a specially commissioned soundscape featuring coastal memories of people leaving in the surrounding area of Lincolnshire, celebrating the local traditions of making and creating, offering the opportunity to connect the past and present. Memories include family traditions, their working lives and even the smell of the salt air.
Visitors were able to wander through the installation, listening to the voices of people living along the Lincolnshire coast, which forms a shared archive of what the coast means to people who live there.
The Memory in a Bottle exhibition intended to encourage visitors to stop, reflect and reconnect over the shared memories and experiences, reminding us of the landscape that has shaped all of us.
